Everyone should have a Mission Statement. This means writing down exactly what you think is your role in the world.

This Statement will change every now and then and its important that you stay open to that.

My Statement is this:

“No matter who we are if we don’t act in accordance with our beliefs it is as though we had none at all.
Therefore I want to use the ancient and immortal technique of Storytelling to create a story that hits people where it matters and forces them into action.

Only when acting out your values can you evolve them and make progress toward a better world.”

How do I intend to learn this?

On a fundamental level we are all selfish. Our biological systems are geared toward 1 single thing:
Survival of our Genes. A simple way to test this yourself is to ask yourself a hypothetical.
Pic any close family member that you dont despise. Then you are put to the question.
Who should die? 1 random person on earth that you dont know, or that family member?
I reccon most of you will pic the family member.
Why? Just looking at it rationally both are humans. Both have the same value. In fact the random person might even be worth more to society. They could be anything from a local hero to a nobel prize winner yet we choose our family first.
The reason is simple. Anyone who carries a part of our genes gains value over those who dont carry them.

So in the end to act we need to have a reason that is either in line with improving the flourishing of our genes or have a reason that is compelling enough to supercede that biological drive.

The best at finding such reasons are so called “compliance professionals”
most just know them as “Sales people”.
They have a bad reputation, but their calling is noble in nature.
A marketer or in fact any businessman has this as his goal:
as Theodore Levitt said “To make and Keep a Customer”
and to do such a thing one needs to first understand what people want and then provide it.
What you or I know as the common saleman is just the last and most important step on this path.
To provoke an action. A good business in order to no only “make a customer” but also “keep a customer” will actually try to satisfy the customer.

This dicipline is THE most Important thing I need to learn.

Who am I targeting?
What action do I want them to take?
How can I get them to take that action?

Why use the story do do so?
Simple. The story is the most ancient form of communication and a good story is the only human made thing that can be immortal and therefore teach concepts and help people take action thousands of years after its initial creation.
